Frequently Asked Questions
Are Your Wedges Adjustable?
Yes; Every Eastonmade model come standard with an adjustable wedge that is easily centred on a block
Can Your Wedges Do A Single Split?
Yes; The knives on both the 4 way and 6 way wedges move below the log cradle when the wedges are fully retracted. This leaves you with a single wedge that is 8" tall.
Do You Have A Dealer In My Area?
No; All Eastonmade wood splitters are sold factory direct ensuring you get the best possible price and the best possible service.
Can You Ship One To Me?
Yes; No Problem. We have shipped all over North America! Shipping rates are between $1200 and $1500 to most places within the Continental US and Canada.
Do I Need To Assemble My Machine When I Get It?
No; Every Eastonmade wood splitter ships fully assembled. Just pull it off the skid and go to work!
Does Your Machine Offer Replaceable Wear Components?
Yes; The pusher has a wear plate on the top of the splitter beam and on the bottom. It also has grease fittings to ensure it always has lubrication. All of the cylinders and pivot points also have replaceable bushings. These are made of nylon. Nylon self lubricates and has an incredibly long wear life. The pins and pivots on most other splitters run steel on steel and offer no lubrication points. When they do wear out there is nothing to replace and no way to service them.
How Tall Are your machines? I Hate Bending Over
The edge of the log cradle (where you load the wood on) are 34" from the ground. If you stand up straight with your arms to your side you will notice that your fingertips are roughly that far from the ground (give or take an inch or two).
Why Would You Want To Be Able To Pull A Splitter From Either End?
You want to be able to pull the splitter from the opposite end of the wedge to be able to get it out of your wood pile. Many splitters only have a hitch on the same end as the wedge, this is a poor design. When you are done splitting wood you have to wrestle with your wood pile and the splitter to gain access to the tongue to move your splitter again.
What's So Different About Your Landing Gear?
The landing gear on an Eastonmade is adjustable and has a significantly wider stance than our competitors. Most other splitters have a rigid leg that pivots under the machine to make it stable. To access these legs you need to lay on your back in the dirt and mud and remove the locking pin. If the stand lands in a low spot you need to block the machine to get it level, or if it lands in a high spot you need to remove dirt before you can lower the leg. With these legs you have three point of contact, the same as a tricycle. When you get a heavy load on the log lift they have the tendency to tip. With an Eastonmade the extra wide landing gear offers 4 points of contact making the machine much more stable when lifting heavy loads.
Does Your Log Lift Raise The Splitter Up Every Time You Put It Down?
No; The log lift cylinder is not attached to the log lift like most other splitters. When the log lift deck hits the ground it will stop and not lift the splitter. Most other splitters lift the machine every time the log lift touches the ground.
